Product Overview
Developed in 1848, the Colt® Dragoon was issued in pairs as service firearms to members of the U.S. Army’s Mounted Rifles 1st Cavalry, the first of many units known as Dragoons. This revolver had a long and distinguished history in military and civilian service during the 1850s and 1860s, including its use in the Civil War. The dragoon models feature a case hardened forged steel frame, roll engraved cylinder, large one piece walnut grip, blued parts, brass backstrap and triggerguard. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Model Dragoons all differ by cylinder notch and triggerguard shapes: 1st model has oval notches and squareback triggerguard, 2nd model has square notches and squareback triggerguard, and the 3rd model has square notches and round triggerguard. The 3rd model also features shoulder stock cuts on the frame and the shoulder stock screws.
