Product Overview

Developed in 1848, the Colt® Dragoon was issued in pairs as service firearms to members of the U.S. Army’s Mounted Rifles 1st Cavalry, the first of many units known as Dragoons. This revolver had a long and distinguished history in military and civilian service during the 1850s and 1860s, including its use in the Civil War. This 2nd Model Dragoon models feature a charcoal blued forged steel frame, roll engraved cylinder, large one piece walnut grip, charcoal blued parts, charcoal blue backstrap and triggerguard. The Charcoal Blue finish is a delicate over-oxidized bluing and when new it is a bright blue color, but over time with use it will naturally patina to a soft grey. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Model Dragoons all differ by cylinder notch and triggerguard shapes: 1st model has oval notches and squareback triggerguard, 2nd model has square notches and squareback triggerguard, and the 3rd model has square notches and round triggerguard. A conversion cylinder is available for the Dragoon revolver that is a drop-in conversion to smokeless .45LC/.45Schofield ammunition.

I source these from a variety of importers such as by Taylor's & Company, Cimarron and EMF.  Packaging may vary depending on importer.
